Following the success of the 2022 "wash up" below is the 2023 summary of what happens to the money raised from the fun run & walk.
Rotary clubs are unique to many charitable organisations as their members pay annual membership fees. These membership fees cover the standard administration cost most charitable organisations have. While most charities, therefore, need to take a portion of their fundraising to cover these costs, we do not.
The Manly Fun Run is slightly different to most of our fundraising events. There are high costs directly attributed to organising such an event via our membership fees. However, through partnering with fantastic local organisations, we have nearly covered these costs and hope to do so in the future.

Rotary Club of Manly raises funds to distribute to local causes
The Rotary Club of Manly has recently distributed over $40,000 to local charities. The club works hard during the year to raise funds that enables us to support a range of local and overseas charities. Our major fundraising activity is the Fun Run and Walk. This year the Fun Run was held on Sunday May 7 and was a great success. We had 1301 participants run in either the 10km up to North Head and back, or the 5km half way up the hill or the 2km beach front run. The Rotary Club of Manly volunteers managed the event along with the help of local partners and schools.
In all the event raised $63,561 – 36% more than that raised in 2022. The Manly Fun Run and Walk provides an opportunity for local charities to get involved and create teams to raise funds directly for their organization. As a result of this year’s Fun run The rotary Club of Manly was able to help the following organisations raise funds:
Stand Tall; StreetWork; Gotch4Life; Lifeline Northern Beaches; Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter; Bushlink and Community Northern Beaches.
Additionally, The Rotary Club of Manly recently provided grants to these organisations:
