The perfect way to spend Father’s Day with the whole family
The 2km fun run and walk is designed for families and timed so that mum or dad can do the 5km or 10km then join the kids in the 2km after. Primarily along Manly’s beachfront promenade (up to North Steyne) it’s very flat and suitable for prams and wheelchairs. There will be a few surprises in-store along the way to entertain the kids, so it’s much more than just a walk along the beach!
The Fun Run and Walk route is no ‘Park Run’, with a few short and sharp hills as well as some spectacular scenery. You’ll start on Manly’s ocean side, near Manly Surf Club before taking The Corso down to the Manly Ferry Terminal. The route then takes you along Manly Cove before a short climb up to Addison Rd and then up Darley Rd right past the old hospital. The route has been updated for 2020 with the run extending further in to North Head, right up to the Barracks Precinct, before coming down Bluefish Drive, back to Addison Rd then taking the ocean-front pathway back to the finish line. There are a few hill climbs to get the heart pumping, but don’t worry, you do get to come back down!
The 10km route is the ultimate tour of Manly’s beautiful scenery. Similar to the 5km route, you’ll take The Corso to the Manly Ferry Terminal, before cutting left onto East Esplanade, up Addison Rd and then up Darley Rd to North Head. On the 2020 updated route, you’ll head along North Head Scenic drive, do a short loop through Q Station, then continue on towards the Fairfax Lookout. You’ll head back on part of Sydney Harbour Federation Trust’s Memorial Walkway, with less unpaved road than in previous year’s routes. You’ll continue back towards Manly until you hit Addison Rd again, where you’ll head towards Bower St, with the final few hundred metres tracking along Marine Parade. We don’t think there’s a better 10km loop in Sydney.
